What we print in
Three everyday plastics and four engineering materials for tougher jobs. Open one to see what it's good at.
General materials
For almost every part, at the lowest prices.
PLA, PETG or ABS? PLA for indoor parts: stiff, with the crispest detail. PETG for clips, holders and the garage: it bends a little before it breaks and takes more heat. ABS for parts that get really hot, like in a car.
Normally used for
- Desk and drawer organisers
- Signs, name plates and decor
- Cable clips and holders indoors
- Prototypes and test fits
- Models, figures and gifts
How it works
PLA is made from plant starch, often corn. It prints very cleanly, so edges come out sharp and surfaces smooth, and it stays stiff instead of bending. The catch: it goes soft at around 55 °C, so keep it out of hot cars, strong sun and heat.

Normally used for
- Tool and battery holders
- Garage and workshop storage
- Plant supports and garden parts
- Clips and brackets that flex a little
- Parts for damp places: sheds, boats, bathrooms
How it works
PETG is the same family of plastic as drink bottles. Next to PLA it is a little softer, so it flexes instead of snapping: great for clips and holders that get pushed and pulled. It is fine with water, cold and sun and takes heat up to about 70 °C. Details come out a touch softer than PLA.

Normally used for
- Car interior parts: clips, holders, inserts
- Parts near engines, motors and heaters
- Lamp brackets and fittings
- Things that sit in the sun all day
- Enclosures for electronics
How it works
ABS is the plastic LEGO bricks are made of. It keeps its shape up to about 90 °C, so it is the one for car interiors, lamps and parts near engines. It is tough and a little lighter than PLA and PETG, with a slightly matte finish.

Engineering materials
For parts that bend, move, wear or carry real weight. They cost more and print slower.
Which one? TPU if it should bend like rubber. Nylon if it moves or rubs, like gears and hinges. Carbon fibre or glass fibre if it must stay stiff under load: carbon is the stiffest and lightest, glass fibre is nearly as strong for less.
Normally used for
- Rubber feet and bumpers
- Gaskets and seals
- Grips and handle sleeves
- Phone and tool cases
- Vibration dampers and cable protectors
How it works
TPU is a rubber-like plastic, about as firm as a phone case. You can bend it, squeeze it and stretch it a little, and it springs right back without cracking. It grips well and soaks up knocks and vibration. It has to be printed slowly, so it costs a bit more. Good up to about 60 °C.

Normally used for
- Gears and pulleys
- Hinges and pivots
- Bushings, sliders and spacers
- Snap-fit clips that open and close a lot
- Parts that touch oil or fuel
How it works
Nylon is the plastic used for gears and cable ties. It is very tough and its surface is slippery, so moving parts slide easily and wear slowly. It bends a little instead of breaking, shrugs off oil and fuel and takes heat up to about 100 °C. It soaks up damp from the air, so we dry every spool before printing.

Normally used for
- Drone and RC parts
- Brackets and mounts that must not flex
- Jigs and fixtures for the workshop
- Camera and sensor mounts
- Parts for cars and motorbikes
How it works
We take nylon and mix in tiny chopped carbon fibres. The fibres work like the steel bars in concrete: the part gets much stiffer, so arms and brackets stay put under load instead of bending. It is light, takes heat up to about 150 °C, and the matte black finish hides layer lines. Black only.

Normally used for
- Brackets and shelves that carry weight
- Pipe and hose clamps
- Motor and pump mounts
- Housings near engines
- Workshop fixtures
How it works
Like carbon fibre, but with short glass fibres mixed into the nylon. It is almost as stiff, a little tougher, and keeps its exact size even when warm (up to about 140 °C). A good, cheaper pick for brackets, clamps and housings that carry real weight. Black and greys.

Questions & answers
Can't find your answer? Email us. The person who designed the part answers, usually the same day.
nemo@printhead3d.seFrom file to finished part in as little as 24 hours. Most orders are printed, checked and on their way within a few working days. In a hurry? Pick Express at checkout (+149 kr): your order moves to the front of the queue, so we print and ship it as fast as we can.
Yes. Every price includes VAT. Custom parts add a 39 kr handling fee once per order, however many parts you buy, and shipping goes by weight from 25 kr. You see the full total before you pay with Swish, Klarna or card.
Email us a photo. We'll print you a new part or give you your money back, whichever you prefer. Every part is checked by a person before it ships.
Every holder is made for one battery system (Milwaukee M18, Makita LXT or Bosch 18V) and tested on the real battery or tool before it goes in the shop. Screws, and wall plugs where you need them, come in the box. Not sure? Email us a photo and we'll check.
Yes. Open our designer, pick a template like a bracket, hook or gear, set your sizes and add screw holes. You get the price straight away. Already have a file? We take STL, 3MF, STEP and OBJ.
PETG for most things: it's tough, handles damp and cold, and it's what our tool holders are made of. PLA is cheapest for indoor parts, ABS for parts that get hot. TPU bends and grips, nylon suits gears and hinges, and carbon or glass fibre stays stiff under load. See What we print in.
